Don’t Let Obstacles Stand in the Way of Your Health

Obviously there haven’t been any new posts here for a few days. In case I didn’t mention it before, my husband and I took a trip to Cleveland this weekend for a Rammstein concert and to grab some good eats again. Even though it was vacation, our schedule was pretty packed, so there was little room for getting an actual workout in. However, we walked pretty much everywhere we went (sometimes in heels, on my part); so we actually managed to get a decent amount of exercise in via walking. We got home Saturday evening, and Sunday morning I was feeling daring and decided to hop on the scale for fun. Surprisingly, I only racked up a 1 pound weight gain between the Chicken Paprikash; Bananas Foster Crepes; a few mixed drinks (including a scrumptious Angel Food Cake Martini); dinner from a vending machine after the concert (apparently restaurants close early in the city during the week); a goat cheese, spinach, tomato, asparagus, and artichoke heart crepe; and quite a few goodies from a sweets shop (including a chocolate covered jalapeno). But, more details on our trip later.

After getting home from work today, I was a little nervous about whether or not I’d manage to get back on track TODAY with P90X2 or not. Our yard was (and still is) a bit horrendous between needing mowed, weedeated, and my garden weeded. Plus the house needs cleaned. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get everything in today, but I wanted to be sure to get a workout in. I started off dealing with the yard by mowing, but had to stop because of an unexpected storm (the lightning bolts were getting too close for comfort). Before I ever had a chance to fully get inside and change for working out, an electric line pole about 30 feet away from our house was struck by lightning…and yes, I just so happened to be outside at the time. We completely lost power…which meant no P90X2 DVDs. Since the only workout I could remember most of the moves for was the yoga workout, I decided I would try my best to recall the moves and aim for a 30 minutes solid workout. And I did just that. It didn’t feel as intense as usual, but I tried my best to keep my muscles engaged and perform the moves properly.

I’m not sure yet what tomorrow will entail, but it most definitely better involve another P90X workout! I’ll post more details on our trip later.
